January is peak summer in Botswana, with intense heat and dramatic afternoon thunderstorms across the Kalahari and northern regions. June is one of the best months to visit Botswana, with the Okavango Delta at peak flood and dry, sunny days ideal for game viewing. October is the hottest month in Botswana, with the Kalahari and northern plains sizzling above 36 degrees. Wildlife viewing remains excellent as water is scarce, but the heat can be punishing during midday hours. First rains may arrive late in the month, bringing relief and fresh green shoots.

November brings the first substantial rains, transforming the brown landscape into vivid green. Migratory birds arrive in huge numbers, making this a birdwatcher's paradise. Many lodges reduce their rates, offering excellent value for travelers comfortable with occasional afternoon downpours.
